POUGHKEEPSIE – Poughkeepsie Mayor Robert Rolison officially named Thomas O’Neill as the next city court judge on Thursday.
O’Neill has over four decades of legal experience, including three years as a Town of Poughkeepsie police officer before becoming a lawyer. O’Neill is currently in private law practice.
Following a judicial screening committee review O’Neill was given the highest rating by the committee, noted Rolison.
“Mr. O’Neill was deemed highly qualified by this independent committee, which I didn’t have any doubt that that would be the result based on his work in this community, not only as a lawyer but, as a former member of city government. He has been involved in the City of Poughkeepsie for most of his life,” the mayor said.
O’Neill will assume the bench on April 1.
