POUGHKEEPSIE – Mayor Robert Rolison, a retired police officer,
used his law enforcement skills when he observed and chased vandals who
were writing graffiti in downtown Poughkeepsie.

Rolison and his wife, Lori, were having dinner at a city restaurant on
Saturday, February 20 when they spotted vandals tagging graffiti across
the street.

The mayor put down his knife and fork and with the aid of a restaurant
employee, began a foot pursuit of the suspects, who fled the scene.

The chase lasted several blocks with the vandals last seen in the Mansion
Street area.

Rolison provided information to city police officers who are currently
searching for the vandals.

“Let’s get the word out that the City of Poughkeepsie won’t
tolerate any level of crime or vandalism,” the mayor said. “Together
we will work block by block to make our city safer, cleaner, and stronger.
