POUGHKEEPSIE – The annual Midnight Madness event to be held by the Society at War Against Guns at Poughkeepsie High School will feature rapper Jadakiss, who will discuss how to turn your life around to have a positive impact.
The school said the singer will stop by the event to “share some words of wisdom, encouragement, and empowerment to students and families.”
His appearance at the event does not sit well with Dutchess County Legislator Angela Flesland, who believes Jadakiss is not a role model for the students.
“It’s just not a smart decision at an anti-illegal gun group, who has been arrested, not only for illegal gun possession, but also for drugs,” Flesland said. “The students at Poughkeepsie High School need a good role model and that is not a good role model.”
Jadakiss is co-owner of D-Black Records and Juices for Life, the latter of which is a franchise of juice bars he opened in his hometown of Yonkers and in the Bronx “designed to fight the longstanding problem of food deserts, areas with limited access to nutritional foods that are predominantly found in low-income neighborhood.”  He said the juice bars “are open in the hoods on purpose to educate our people on health awareness.”
