Two charged with possessing over one pound of pot on Quickway

TUXEDO – Two people were arrested Sunday night while driving on Route 17 in the Town of Tuxedo following a traffic stop that resulted in the discovery of over one pound of marijuana inside their vehicle.
Melvin Dempsey, 32, of Vallejo, California and Jacqueline Taveras, 32, of Sleepy Hollow, were each charged with felony criminal possession of marijuana.  Police also found a switchblade knife on Dempsey who was also charged with criminal possession of a weapon.
Dempsey and Taveras are in the Orange County Jail without bail.
