PORT JERVIS – Police charged a Port Jervis man with placing a note on a vehicle in a commercial parking lot at 100 Pike Street on January 17, claiming that there was a bomb inside it.
That note, spotted by a passing pedestrian, set off a massive check of the vehicle and area to determine if there was, in fact, a bomb. Investigation determined there was none, but police continued to investigate and now announced the arrest of Pellegrino Nappa, 44, of Port Jervis on a charge of falsely reporting an incident as a felony.
Nappa allegedly placed a handwritten note on the outside of the passenger car claiming that a bomb was inside the vehicle. Investigation concluded he did not place an actual bomb or explosive device in the car.
Nappa was released to appear in city court.
