LAKE KATRINE – A woman, who police said suffered an unknown medical
issue, apparently lost control of her car, failed to negotiate a turn
onto Boices Lane in Lake Katrine, striking bushes. Town of Ulster Police
said the incident did not stop there. The car, driven by Penny Scofield,
39, of Lake Katrine, reentered the road and struck a car driven by a 52-year-old
Saugerties woman on Boices Road then struck a wooden guard rail at the
intersection with Dogwood Street coming to rest.
Scofield, still suffering from her medical condition, backed up the car,
striking another car driven by a 67-year-old Lake Katrine woman. She continued
to travel through the intersection with Enterprise Drive onto Boices Lane
Extension striking an earth embankment at the edge of the United Health
Care parking lot. Her car went airborne coming to rest on two parked cars.
There were no injuries reported at the scene, but Scofield was transported
to HealthAlliance of the Hudson Valley by Mobile Life Support Services
for evaluation of the unknown medical condition.
No tickets were immediately released as the investigation is continuing.
The Ulster Police were assisted by Ulster Hose Fire Department and Mobile
Life.
