POUGHKEEPSIE – The emergency water conservation notice for customers
of the Hyde Park Regional Water System was lifted Monday. Officials said
customers may return to normal water use.

The conservation measures were taken on Sunday when the system experienced
a reduced ability to draw water through the Hudson River intake.

The temporary reduced flow was likely caused by extreme cold weather and
the presumed production of frazil ice in the Hudson River, Dutchess County
Water and Wastewater Authority officials said.

At the present time, the intake is operating normally with storage tanks
within normal capacity.
