NEWBURGH – Two spring Hudson Valley Honor Flights are being planned – the first on Saturday, April 2 from Stewart Airport near Newburgh and the second, on Saturday, May 14 from Westchester County Airport at White Plains.
Hudson Valley Honor Flight is a nonprofit organization honoring American veterans for their sacrifices by bringing them to Washington, DC to visit their respective war memorials at no cost to them.
Each veteran is accompanied by a volunteer, personal “guardian” who is responsible for ensuring that the vet’s trip is a memorable one. Guardians are responsible for covering the cost of their trip.
“We know there are many World War II veterans who deserve to be honored for their sacrifice to our country,” said Honor Flight Board Chairman Frank Kimler. “We encourage them to contact us and let us know of their interest.”
Hudson Valley Honor Flight serves veterans from Orange, Ulster, Dutchess, Westchester, Rockland, Sullivan and Putnam counties in New York as well as Pike County, Pennsylvania, Bergen County, New Jersey and Fairfield County, Connecticut.
