PEARL RIVER – Orange and Rockland Utilities declared a company-wide Storm Watch in anticipation of the possibility of significant snow moving through the region this weekend.
There were no severe weather emergencies on the O&R system as of Thursday afternoon.
While the worst of the huge storm is now expected to pass to the south and east of this region, forecasters are still predicting the possibility of snow and gusty winds beginning Saturday morning and continuing through Sunday noon.
Because the regional storm activity has the potential to cause power and gas line damage and electric and gas service interruptions, O&R’s storm function coordinators have been ordered to prepare their organizations for activation to make repairs and restore electric service as needed.
O&R’s first-response organizations have begun preparing weekend work schedules and ramping up so they will be ready to go at the first sign of storm-related damage.
