KINGSTON – Mayor Steven Noble will seek common council approval to restructure the city’s office of economic development. On Tuesday, Noble said with the main position in the department becoming vacant on January 19, that gives him the opportunity to “create more effective systems to serve the needs in two priority areas: grants management and business support services.”
A grants management initiative with a grants manager has the potential to bring in “a significant amount of grant funding and this position will be key to our success,” Noble said. Those grants “can offset the costs incurred as we work to address our infrastructure issues, enhance our services to at-risk youth and seniors, purchase vital safety equipment for our emergency service responders, and improve motorized and non-motorized transportation systems.”
The mayor also wants to create more focused support services to the business community.
