MONTICELLO – Monticello Village Trustee Carmen Rue is running for a third term in office. The village elections will be held on Tuesday, March 15.
Rue said Monday that she and her running mates “all work for the good of the Village of Monticello.” Despite “bumps in the road,” she said the village is “moving in the right direction.”
Rue said the village has secured several state and federal grants to rebuild its infrastructure while keeping local tax increases to a minimum. She pointed to the completion of the renovations to Broadway from 2009 to 2011.
“It’s not perfect,” Rue said. wishing the median could have been deleted, but said the state, which paid for the work as it is a state road, said it is needed for safety sake.  “Now, with some help, it’s my hope that more Broadway building owners will get on board to make their privately owned properties safe and attractive for business. The village is working hard toward that goal.”
