Practitioners told to “Visualize the earth filled with light …”

KENT – Over 500 people from across the Mid-Hudson came to the Chuang Yen Monastery in the Town of Kent on New Year’s morning to participate in the annual Interfaith Prayer for World Peace.
Attending the annual event, her favorite, was Kent Town Supervisor Maureen Fleming. “There is nothing more peaceful and meaningful” than the annual interfaith prayer session, which was attended by members of all faiths, Buddhist, Muslim, Christian and Judaism, Fleming said.
“The world is at a crossroads with increased violence through terrorism as well as kindness and compassion,” the President of the Buddhist Association of the United States, Bhikkhu Bodhi said.
“Visualize the earth filled with light as well as the dove of love and peace,” Bodhi told those in attendance. “That ball of light will descend upon the earth enveloping the planet bringing justice, peace and love.”
Japanese Buddhist priest Ven. Kenjitsu Nakagaki we must be “thoughtful throughout every day of the new year.”
