MAHOPAC – A late night
accident head-on crash between a car and motorcycle in Mahopac resulted
in the death of the operator of the Yamaha motorcycle.
Carmel Police Chief Michael Cazzari said the 11 p.m. crash occurred on
Baldwin Place Road on December 26. Killed in the crash was Zachary Zappala,
26, of Mahopac. The driver of the 2006 BMW involved was operated by Ahmet
Ulutas, 24; he declined medical attention at the scene.
The crash occurred near the intersection of Grand Meadow Drive.
Carmel Police were assisted by a State Police Reconstruction Unit.
No charges were filed pending the outcome of the accident investigation.
