VILLAGE OF LIBERTY – A 19-year-old Liberty man was arrested twice
following a December 21 stabbing in the village.

Liberty Village Police charged Cain Valencia with felony assault and misdemeanor
criminal possession of a weapon after stabbing another man on the night
of December 11. The victim had been brought to the emergency room of Catskill
Regional Medical Center for treatment.

Police investigated and determined the incident took place at a residence
on Orchard Street in Liberty.

Valencia was located in Ferndale on December 21 and arrested without incident.
He was remanded to the Sullivan County Jail in lieu of $7,500 and an order
of protection was issued barring him from having any contact with the
victim of the stabbing.

He was bailed out of county jail and was rearrested by Liberty Village
Police on December 26 when they learned he had violated the order of protection
by communicating with the victim on Main Street in Liberty the day before.

Valencia was charged with criminal contempt as a misdemeanor and sent
back to county jail in lieu of $600 bail.

Village of Monticello and State Police assisted Liberty Police on the
case.
