MONSEY – The US Occupational Safety and Health Administration will investigate the collapse of a scaffold holding a construction worker at 24 Gibbs Court in Monsey Thursday afternoon.
Ramapo Police were called the scene around 1:30 p.m. when a construction worker who was on scaffolding as he worked on the foundation of a new construction house fell when the device gave way. He landed on the ground with part of the scaffolding falling on top of him, police said.
The victim complained of pain to his chest, head and shoulder. He had to be lifted out of the work site and was transported to Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla by Ramapo Valley Ambulance.  At the time he was rescued, he was conscious and alert, authorities said.
Ramapo detectives were on the scene along with the town building inspector, who shut down the site until an investigation is conducted by OSHA.
