ELLENVILLE – An Ellenville woman has been charged
with two counts of endangering the welfare of a child after she left her
two small children, ages two and three, alone in her motel room for six
hours while she went to work in Kingston.

The incident might have gone undetected if not for the kids getting outside
and walking around in the parking lot in the rain wearing only diapers.

Investigation led to the identity of the mother, Zoe Eichert, 28, of Kerhonkson,
who was located at work.

The person who called State Police to report the kids being outside stayed
with them until the police and Ulster County Child Protective Services
arrived. The agency took custody of the children and placed them into
foster care and Eichert was issued an appearance ticket returnable to
town court next month.
