HYDE PARK – A Hyde Park man is in the Dutchess County Jail without bail following his arrest in connection with an attempted gas station armed robbery.
Christopher Dam, 26, was charged with attempted armed robbery and criminal use of a firearm following an investigation by the State Police at Rhinebeck into the December 15 attempted hold-up at a CITGO gas station in Staatsburg.
Dam allegedly entered the station armed with a shotgun and demanded money from the owner, who chased Dam out of the store. During a struggle, a round from the shotgun discharged into the ground.
Surveillance video capturing Dam robbing the store helped police arrest him on Friday, December 18.
