Fireworks over the Hudson Friday night
POUGHKEEPSIE – Hundreds of residents of Poughkeepsie and other
areas of the Mid-Hudson Valley converged on the city Friday night to enjoy
the annual Celebration of Lights.
Everyone enjoyed tree lightings, fireworks, a visit from Santa, hot cocoa,
cookies and other refreshments.
Mayor John Tkazyik was excited about the annual event.
“It is a way for many visitors and friends to come together and
enjoy the lighting of our two trees, and to shop in our shops, and to
eat and dine in our restaurants, and to check out what Poughkeepsie has
to offer downtown,” he said.
Following the Celebration of Lights parade, the Bardavon 1869 Opera House
screened “It’s a Wonderful Life.”
