HUDSON – Police agencies in Columbia County will be conducting the annual handicap enforcement week from now through next Saturday, November 28.
Police will be looking for handicapped parking violators throughout the county. With the holiday season approaching, individuals with disabilities have a difficult time finding available handicapped accessible parking spots.
When people violate handicapped parking laws, they make it extremely difficult for those with disabilities to participate in shopping and holiday activities. Police will be targeting handicapped parking violations.
Columbia County Sheriff David Bartlett will be coordinating the effort.
The sheriff’s office will be patrolling to local businesses to ensure that they have adequate handicapped parking spaces and will also provide awareness training to any group or community organization requesting it.
