MONTICELLO – Residents over the age of 21 in Neversink will now be able to buy alcohol in restaurants and convenience stores. The Sullivan County Board of Elections Friday opened absentee ballots, with the approval of the sale of beer and wine in convenience stores. The sale of alcohol in restaurants had passed on election day by two votes.
The local law had been in place since the 1930s.
Those businesses that now want to sell alcohol must apply for a liquor license and notify the town of their plans.
