HUDSON VALLEY – Hours after 911
emergency call center phone service was lost in Dutchess, Putnam (both
845 area code) and Westchester (914 area code) counties Thursday evening,
it was restored.
The 607 area code in the Roscoe area of Sullivan County also experienced a disruption in 911 emergency call service. That area is handled by Frontier Communications.
During the time 911 calls were interrupted it was apparently only impacted wired phones. Cell phone 911 service was still operation.
While the phones were dead, people with emergencies were advised to call their local police departments if they needed immediate police or medical service.
