POUGHKEEPSIE – The Dutchess County Industrial Development Agency gave its final approval on Thursday for a financial incentive package to Hudson Valley Lighting of Newburgh so that it could move its operations to a larger facility in the Town of Wappinger.
The IDA approved a sales tax abatement on construction materials, an abatement on the mortgage recording tax and a 10-year payment-in-lieu-of-taxes.
Dutchess County Deputy Planning Commissioner Ronald Hicks said the company is moving ahead with the project.
“First and foremost this is a retention for our region and New York State as this is a global company and they could have done this pretty much in the country or the world,” said Hicks.  “We’re really happy to have them here in Dutchess County and maintain their presence in the region.”
The move will mean some 50 to 60 new jobs in Dutchess.
Hudson Valley Lighting decided to pull out of Newburgh when plans to build a new, larger facility on a former brownfield site fell through.
