USO singers entertain the vets
MAHOPAC – As Veterans’ Day fast approaches, Putnam County honored its veterans with a special luncheon at the Putnam County Golf Course in Mahopac.
The “Chow Down” event on Sunday brought together some 400 vets for the family-style meal and to give them the opportunity to share memories. Entertainment was provided by the USO singers and military vehicles dating from 1916 through 2012 were on display.
The vets were also provided with information about local services to them.
The event was organized by County Executive MaryEllen Odell and state Senators Terrence Murphy and Susan Serino in cooperation with the PFC. Joseph P. Dwyer Vet2Vet Program.
