GOSHEN – A proposal to include funding in the Orange County 2016 Community Development Action Plan for homeless veterans has the support of County Executive Steven Neuhaus.
The pilot program “Homes for Heroes” would support rental assistance for eligible homeless vets who would have up to two years of rental assistance.
“As county executive and a member of our nation’s armed services,
I find it concerning that any veteran is left homeless or denied the services
that they need,” Neuhaus said. “These brave men and women
fought for our nation’s freedom, but shouldn’t have to fight
for the benefits they are entitled to. We all need to do our part and
work together to solve this problem.”
County Community Development Director Richard Mayfield said the pilot program under Tenant Based Rental Assistance “will allow us to allocate a portion of its HOME entitlement funds to assist in addressing the needs of Orange County’s homeless veterans.”
