POUGHKEEPSIE – Dutchess
County Executive Marcus Molinaro said on Tuesday his 2016 county budget
proposal, to be released on October 28, will include the first property
tax rate decrease in eight years and a continued reduction in the property
tax levy.
He made the announcement at the Dutchess County Association of Realtors annual meeting in Poughkeepsie.
This will be the second consecutive year of a reduction in the county property tax levy, kept the county under the state property tax cap and ensured eligible homeowners receive the 2015 state tax freeze credit rebate check, which are expected to be mailed this fall.
Molinaro’s spending plan includes reductions in lighting costs
with the installation of LED fixtures and the merger of the county departments
of Health and Mental Health, creating the new Department of Behavioral
and Community Health.
