Newburgh man arrested following pursuit on Palisades Parkway

STONY POINT – State Police arrested a Newburgh man after a car chase that began with the Town of Highlands Police and ending in Stony Point.
Carl Palenik, 30, was arrested following his failure to comply that ended in his striking a State Police car and then an uninvolved vehicle.
Police said Palenik was taken into custody after driving south in the northbound lane of the Palisades Parkway on Thursday, October 15, where he sideswiped an oncoming vehicle.
Palenik was charged with reckless endangerment, criminal mischief, unlawful fleeing from police, aggravated unlicensed operation, driving while ability impaired by drugs with a prior conviction, resting arrest, criminal possession of a controlled substance as a misdemeanor and several vehicle and traffic violations.  He is the Rockland County Jail without bail pending a future court appearance.
