Schmiedel
ROXBURY – A Delaware County grand jury indicted a Prattsville man on charges of vehicular manslaughter, vehicular assault and DWI.
Thomas Schmiedel, 19, was driving a pickup truck on Route 23 in the Town of Roxbury late in the afternoon of June 7 when he crossed into the opposite lane and collided head-on with an SUV driven by Elvira Vogt, 71, of Jefferson. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
A passenger, Robert Vogt, 71, of Jefferson, suffered a broken arm and other injuries and was treated at Albany Medical Center.
Schmiedel sustained internal injuries. A passenger in his car was not injured.
