PORT JERVIS – The Safe Homes of Orange County “Clothesline Project” was in Port Jervis on Thursday as part of National Domestic Violence Awareness Month.
The Clothesline has hundreds of t-shirts with messages of domestic abuse and death at the hands of domestic partners.
Madeleine Enriquez, the Safe Homes shelter director, said the Clothesline is part of a community-wide effort to reach out to those who are in a violent domestic situation.
“We want to get the message far and wide to join forces with as many other individuals, community-based organizations, law enforcement agencies, every community member to shine a light on domestic violence in hopes that together we can eradicate the victimizations of everyone impacted by it,” Enriquez said.
The Clothesline Project has also been on display in Goshen, Middletown and Newburgh in the last several days.
