GOSHEN – The local development
corporation created to sell Orange County’s Valley View nursing
home is no more.
The county legislature has voted to dissolve it and legislature Chairman Stephen Brescia said it is no longer necessary.
“We feel there is no more need for it because we are going to keep Valley View and we don’t want that cloud handing over the employees’ heads or the residents’ heads or anybody who is looking at Valley New,” Brescia said. “We know we are going to keep it now and making it more efficient and run better.”
The courts struck down the legislature’s simple majority to sell the nursing home since the county charter said the vote must be by a two-thirds majority.
