Lwarence at the Kingston Police Memorial
KINGSTON – Charlie Lawrence never knew his grandfather, James Lawrence, but he wanted to keep his memory alive so on Sunday, Charlie and his daughter, Melissa Winters, and his son, Chad, rode their bikes 27.19 miles to raise money for the National Police Memorial in Washington, DC.
James Lawrence was a Kingston City police officer who was killed in the line of duty on February 7, 1919 (2-7-19). The mileage represents the “end of watch” for Officer Lawrence.
Several others joined Charlie and his kids on the memorial ride that ended at his grandfather’s graveside in Wiltwyck Cemetery.
