Tyner (file): “… bad for health”

POUGHKEEPSIE – Dutchess County Legislator Joel Tyner, a Democrat, did not mince words on Friday when he criticized Republican county lawmakers for blocking several environmental issues that came up at the oversight committee on Thursday.
He said that in neighboring counties, public officials on both sides of the aisle have banded together on key environmental issues.
“The Republicans voted along party lines to kill the Democratic caucus’ proposal to ban toxic toys in Dutchess County,” Tyner said.  “That had also been passed unanimously in Rockland County, it had been passed unanimously in Suffolk County. The same thing with micro-beads. Republican-led county legislature majorities in Erie County, in Chautauqua County, and the Suffolk County Legislature, have voted unanimously just in the last few months to ban these nasty micro-beads, bad for the watershed, bad for the health.”
GOP Dutchess legislators also once again voted against neighbor notifications
for pesticide application and testing for potential well water contaminants
before properties are being sold.
All of the resolutions Tyner mentioned wre tabled.
