NEWBURGH – Democratic State Assemblyman Frank Skartados endorsed the “Democratic Team for Change for Newburgh” in next month’s election.
The ticket is headed by Newburgh attorney Jonathan Jacobson.
“I am confident he will bring new life to the City of Newburgh,” Skartados said of Jacobson on Tuesday. “Jonathan has a long history of involvement in all levels of government, and a strong and passionate commitment to Newburgh.”
Jacobson, who defeated Mayor Judy Kennedy in the Democratic primary election in September, served for many years as the leader of the Orange County Party and recently as head of the Newburgh City Democratic Committee.
Kennedy will still be on the ballot on the Independence Party line.   Former city Councilman John Giudice is the Republican candidate.
Skartados said Jacobson has “a deep knowledge of the city, and when combined with his laser-like focus on important issues and his consensus-building approach to problem-solving, it is clear that only great things can happen for everyone.”
Skartados also endorsed city council running mates Torrance Harvey and Hillary Rayford.
