SAUGUERTIES – A Saugerties mom has been charged with endangering the welfare of a child after her two-year-old son was found wondering down the street by himself on Thursday.
Alyssa Montalvo, 23, told police 40 minutes had elapsed between the last time she saw her son in her home and the time troopers arrived on the scene.
They were alerted to the toddler by a 911 caller who met officers with other concerned residents when they arrived.
Montalvo came from approximately 250 feet away and across the street to say she was the tot’s mother.
She was released on her own recognizance after being charged.
