Man charged with assault in Marlboro stabbing

MARLBOROUGH – A report of a fight in progress involving several people at the Marlboro Plaza on Route 9W in the hamlet on Sunday night resulted in stab wounds to a man and the arrest of an alleged assailant.
Town Police said a 20-year-old victim had suffered multiple stab wounds to the arm and hand. He was transported to a hospital for treatment.
The victim and witnesses identified the suspect, Joseph Montalbano, 18,
of Marlboro, who was located a short time later at a nearby residence
and taken into custody. He was charged with felony assault and criminal
possession of marijuana as a misdemeanor.
Montalbano was arraigned in Marlborough Town Court and released on his own recognizance pending a future court appearance.
Town Police were assisted by State Police from the Highland barracks.
