Building deemed safe after this happened

VALLEY COTTAGE – No one was injured Tuesday night when a brick façade collapsed on one of the buildings at the Mountain View Condominiums.
The damaged area was about 15 feet high and four feet wide. The falling brick damaged a gas line that was connected to a generator as well as eight electric meters.
Clarkstown Police said as a result of the damage to the gas line, 16 units were to be without gas for the evening and eight units were to be without gas and electricity.  Residents were given the option of staying in their homes or going elsewhere for the night.
Orange and Rockland Utilities responded to repair the gas line and electric boxes.
The Clarkstown building inspector deemed the building safe for habitation.
