FRA urges railroad companies to share railroad bridge conditions with communities

WASHINGTON – A lack of information provided to communities in New York about the condition of privately owned railroad bridges may change.
The Federal Railroad Administration has urged owners of those bridges to make public the conditions of their facilities.
US Senator Charles Schumer said in New York, there is only on specialist assigned to over 3,000 privately owned bridges, and that individual is also responsible for bridges in 13 other states.  He us pushing for additional Train bridge inspectors and said the FRA’s announcement that they will urged railroad companies to be more transparent is a positive step in the right direction.
