NEW WINDSOR – The ten former Army barracks that lined International Boulevard leading into Stewart Airport have been demolished, ending an eyesore that sat there since the Army decommissioned its subpost at the airport decades ago.
The Town of New Windsor owns that land now and paid some $260,000 to have the buildings razed.

Town Supervisor George Green said there is interest in redevelopment of the property.
“There are people looking at it right now; they have a hotel in mind,” he said.  “I think they are looking at that whole portion where the buildings actually sat.”
Green said there is discussion about constructing two short-stay hotels on that land, which the town would rent on a long-term basis to the developers.
