MONTICELLO – Sullivan County would only have to lay out $40,000 in order to accept an $800,000 federal grant for upgrades at the county airport in Bethel. Lawmakers, meeting in committee this week, held off on approving the expenditure pending additional information.
Legislature Chairman Scott Samuelson said the work would include the airport access road and entrance.
“There was a grant that the Department of Public works applied for a couple of years ago; it was just approved by the FAA,” Samuelson said.  “It is a 90 percent-10 percent match to do repair work on improving the entrance to the airport. That was tabled for further information.”
That additional information may come today as lawmakers meet for regularly scheduled committee sessions.
