WHITE PLAINS – A 40-year-old Yorktown Heights woman has been arrested
on a felony grand larceny charge alleging that she stole some $30,000
from St. Patrick’s Parochial School in Bedford where she had worked
as the principal.

An audit of the school’s finances conducted by the Archdiocese of
New York in 2014 revealed the irregularities and notified the district
attorney’s office.

The investigation revealed Jennifer Ciavirella Schmidberger allegedly
made personal purchases using a school account for over four years.

She was the school principal since 2010.

Schmidberger was arrested on Wednesday and arraigned on Thursday with
bail set at $1,500 cash bail or $5,000.

If convicted, she faces up to seven years in state prison.
