Port Jervis man arrested in city stabbing

PORT JERVIS – A Port Jervis man was arrested on felony assault charges for allegedly stabbing another man in the chest and arm pit during a disturbance on August 18.  Port Jervis Police responded to a report of a fight in the area of 116 Hammond Street found a large group of people and located the victim with a stab wound to his chest. He was transported to Bon Secours Hospital for treatment.
Police conducted an investigation that resulted in the arrest of Louis Seward, 36, of 80 East Main Street in Port Jervis. He was charged with assault and criminal possession of a weapon, both as felonies.
Seward was sent to the Orange County Jail in lieu of $25,000 cash bail or $75,000 bond. 
Port Jervis Police were assisted at the scene by members of the State Police.
