POUGHKEEPSIE – A 54-year-old level
three registered sex offender in the City of Poughkeepsie is in the Dutchess
County Jail in lieu of $50,000 cash bail or bond for possessing an electronic
device with child pornography.
City Police said Michael Decker came to police headquarters on Thursday,
August 20 to complete his 90-day registration as required by law.
During his interview, it was learned he had several electronic devices
that allowed him to go online that we not registered with the state. Investigation
found at least one of those contained the illegal images.
Decker was charged with 10 counts of possessing an obscene sexual performance
by a child, all as felonies, as well as failure to register and verify
as a sex offender, also a felony.
Police said at this time it does not appear that any of the children in
the photos are local although the investigation into Decker’s activities
is continuing.
