NEWBURGH – For the second day in a
row, a man was shot in Newburgh and city police are continuing to investigate.

At around 11:10 p.m. on Wednesday, August 19, a 22-year-old city resident
was shot in the elbow and back.

He was walking in the area of Benkard and Little Monument streets by himself
and heard a gunshot. He sustained a bullet wound to his elbow and the
projective appeared to then travel through his back, police said.

He was taken to St. Luke’s Cornwall Hospital for treatment of what
authorities said did not appear to be life threatening injuries.
The night before at around 11:40 p.m., a 55-year-old man was shot in
the arm while at the intersection of South and Liberty streets. He, too,
was taken to the hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

Police continue to investigate both cases and ask anyone who may have
information about either to call the detective division at 845-569-7509.
