WHITE PLAINS – The City of White Plains
has released a request for proposals for a multimodal transportation redevelopment
project.

The purpose will be to provide an enhanced multimodal transportation center
serving all modes of travel and to maximize the economic potential of
the area.

Officials hope the project will also create a welcoming and attractive
new “destination” that will transform the area and provide
a welcoming gateway that both compliments and reinforces the downtown
core.

The design of the project will be based on sustainable design principles
that are, among other things, protective of the environment, minimize
negative environmental impacts, use low-impact materials and promote energy
efficiency.

The RFPs are due back to city hall at 4 p.m. on Friday, August 28.
