Crackdown on unemployment insurance fraud

MID-HUDSON – State Police and Department
of Labor continues its crackdown on unemployment insurance fraud with
more arrests in the Mid-Hudson Valley.

Lynn Stokes, 53, of Hurley was charged with illegally obtaining over $12,000
in benefits. She was arrested and charged with grand larceny offering
a false instrument for filing and falsifying business records, all as
felonies.

It was determined she was working during the time in which she received
the benefits.

She was released on her own recognizance.

Kayla Murphy, 27, of Ulster, was charged with illegally obtaining over
$9,000 in unemployment benefits.

She was charged with grand larceny and offering a false instrument for
filing, both filing. She, too, was employed during the time in which she
was receiving the benefits.

She was also released pending a future court appearance.

Tina Gratis, 27, of Marbletown and Billy Davis, 68, of Kingston, were
charged with offering to file false instrument,
falsifying business records and grand larceny, all as felonies.

It is alleged that Gratis stole $7,224 while she was working in New Paltz
and Davis collected $7,661 while he was working in Kingston.

Both must also return to local courts at later dates.
