GOSHEN – By the first half of next year, the intersection of Orange County Routes 1, 1A, 41 and Blooms Corners Road in the Town of Warwick will have a traffic light and associated improvements.
The upgrade comes after the recent tragic accident between a drivers’ education car and a truck, which left three 16-yar-olds from Goshen dead.
Following the accident, County Executive Steven Neuhaus consulted with
an independent firm and the county’s Department of Public Works
and decided to improve the safety of the intersection.
The county has hired Maser Consulting to conduct an independent study, with the initial report coming back Friday.
“One study result that concerns me is that more than half of the drivers on that road are speeding,” Neuhaus said. “We all need to be more responsible on the roads for our safety and the safety of others. When it comes to safety of those who travel Orange County roadways, we always want to be proactive.”
