Wappinger – The FAA has granted the
Dutchess County Airport a $504,000 grant to replace the existing airfield
electric vault, which has reached the end of its useful life.

The FAA grants are “vital to keeping the airport running safely
and effectively for the more than 73,000 takeoffs and landings that take
place there each year,” said County Executive Marcus Molinaro.

The county will select a private company to operate the airport as a fixed
base operator within the next several weeks and future plans for the facility
will make it an even greater economic engine for the county, he said.
The airport had an annual economic impact of over $44 million for the
local economy.

Congressman Sean Patrick Maloney announced this latest grant.
