TOWN OF WALLKILL – The former Wallkill Town Hall will be razed shortly to make way for a new extended stay hotel.
The town closed on the sale to JCA Hotels on Monday netting the town $1.5 million. The two partners in the venture, Jake Kriney and Chet Patel, are local developers, who have constructed and operated other hotels.
Town Supervisor Daniel Depew said the redevelopment of the property will be yet another positive move for the Route 211 corridor.
“This is a huge project,” Depew said.  “It will include a restaurant and also some retail use and the hotel that is going to be built is the first of its kind in the region. It’s going to be Home 2 Suites Hotel; it’s a Hilton brand hotel. It’s a huge economic boon to the taxpayers of the area.”
Cost of construction is estimated to be between $7 million and $10 million for the 99-room, four-story hotel.
Depew said demolition of the old town building will begin in the next couple of weeks.
