Thruway traffic stop sends three jail on drug charges

CORNWALL – Three people are in the Orange County Jail following a traffic stop on the Thruway in Cornwall early Monday morning.
As troopers approached the vehicle shortly after 1 a.m., they observed the driver and rear passenger switching seats.
The driver, Francisco Santiago, Jr., 31, of Newburgh, was found to be intoxicated. Police also found over 100 grams of cocaine in the vehicle.  Santiago, who refused to submit to a breath test, was charged with DWI, and two counts of felony criminal possession of a controlled substance. He is in jail without bail.
Julio DaVila, 25, of Newburgh, was charged with two counts of felony drug possession and was jailed in lieu of $10,000 cash bail or $30,000 bond.
Reina Diaz Diaz, 29, also of Newburgh, was charged with two felony counts of criminal possession of drugs. She is held in lieu of $10,000 cash bail or $30,000 bond.
