GOSHEN – The Mental Health Association of Orange County has been given three laptops by the county district attorney’s office for use when performing forensic examinations on victims of rape and sexual assault.
The nurses are part of the Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner Program (SANE), which is designed to help victims of those attacks.
District Attorney David Hoovler said the computers will assist in handling the cases.
“By doing this it will enhance the prosecution of these cases here in Orange County then the computers, even better, were purchased with funds obtained by the district attorney’s office from criminal forfeiture conducted under New York State forfeiture laws,” Hoovler said.  “The funds were all forfeited to the office as proceeds of felony crimes from defendants who were proven guilty.”
The SANE program is a collaboration involving Mental Health Association in Orange County, the district attorney’s office, Orange Regional Medical Center and St. Luke’s Cornwall Hospital.
