Sullivan elections commissioner Gaebel dies

MONTICELLO – Sullivan County Elections Commissioner Rodney Gaebel died Thursday after a brief illness. He was 66.
Gaebel was a former Callicoon town supervisor, a former county legislator and a member of the county Republican committee.
He was active in the community involved in the NRA, as a member of the Craigle Claire Hunting Club and as a past president of the former Jeffersonville-Youngsville School Board, and a member of the Colonial Inn and Hankins House softball teams.
Gaebel is survived by his wife, Bonnie, three children and seven grandchildren.
Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Sunday at Stewart-Murphy Funeral Home in Jeffersonville. The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, July 28 at The United Reform Church of Youngsville.
